
BIOGRAPHY
My name is Jeffrey Cuevas.
Jeffrey is a baritone from Douglas, Wyoming dedicated to the power of classical voice, specializing in operatic repertoire while also performing art songs and German lieder. Adjudicators have noted Jeffrey’s "lovely dynamics, beautiful phrasing, mature sound, and artistic performances." He is a junior studying a Bachelor of Music Education and Vocal Performance at the University of Wyoming, where he sings in five of six choirs and participates in Opera Theatre. He formerly studied voice under Prof. Sabina Balsamo and now under Dr. Erik Erlandson.
During his time at UW, Jeffrey was nominated to represent the voice area for the Chair’s Honors Convocation in the Spring of 2023 and 2024. He also was awarded first-place prize in the Colorado-Wyoming National Association for Teachers of Singing (NATS) singing competition for Classical Tenor/Bass in April of 2024. In May of 2024, he was a featured soloist in the Beethoven Choral Fantasy, accompanied by the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra (JHSO) and the Cathedral Voices for Jackson’s Spring Music Festival. Jeffrey is a top finalist in the bi-annual Dorothy Jacoby Honors Soloist Competition, taking place this March. Additionally, he will be the featured soloist for the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra’s Spring Tour in 2025.​ In his spare time, Jeffrey serves as a member of the Student Advisory Council for the UW Music Department, discussing matters with faculty from a student perspective.
He is passionate about continuing to shape his identity as a performer in a professional setting. Combining his commitment to music education with his talent, he seeks to connect audiences through the universal language of music. As an active soloist and ensemble member, he strives to make classical music accessible and meaningful to all, bridging gaps through the shared human experience of song.
